Martin's Cove
We traveled to Wyoming to Martin's Cove. Merriann and I have been asked to lead the parent couples (Ma's and Pa's) for our Stake High Adventure next June. We traveled to Wyoming to be trained and begin preparation for the excursion. We had an interesting trip.
We left latter than we had hoped. While I tried to leave work early, it is not always possible. We decided to take a northern route there, traveling through Jackson Hole. We planed on staying the night in Riverton. All, I mean every last room was gone. There was no room in the Inn. We went on to Lander and found a room. That hotel filled up by the time we unpacked.

to avoid the severe storm
The next morning we traveled on to be there by 10:30 AM. We arrived and it started to look stormy. It had already rained some. There were about 150 people there for training. They took us out to the carts and headed out. We were in the second group. While at Martin's Cove it got very dark. It did not rain however. It hailed all the way back to a covered dining area. We were soaked and cold.
Merriann following an empty handcart
Merriann is a decendent of Danish immigrants who came through with a hand cart. They were one of the first groups that year and experienced little difficulty. Indeed, it was said they were very strong once reaching the Salt Lake Valley. It was not so for the last two companies.
It was a wonderful experience. Very beautiful and yet a place of great faith, great endurance as well as great suffering. It is a place that forces you to pause, to reflect, to contemplate, to renew your faith.

We are looking forward to our return.

I think Martin's Cove is a really good place to get rained on. There was a HUGE thunderstorm when we went there too.
