While the posts are pine, I used poplar for the other parts of the bed. To match the color I used a dye. It worked fairly well. It is quite a project. I do not know if I am anxious to repeat the process. Clearly it would be easier the second time.
Here are some pictures of the finished bed in the living room. I set it up there so I could complete the top and minimize the likelihood of shop-rash. The last picture is the other princess - Princess Sophie.

We traveled to Salmon River High Adventure Scout Camp to visit my daughter who is working at the camp as a cook. We were there to celebrate her birthday. It is a wonderful place. The river is very high and moving fast. The camp is on the North Fork of the Salmon River.

I LOVE it!!! It turned out so beautiful. When D saw it he said, "Wow cool, a jungle gym bed." (Oh no!!!)
K thought it was sooo "Super fancy" and she is a little jealous of Lizzy (who she thinks is the recipient)
I am so excited for her to see it.
